Outplacement support for employers
Outplacement services give the people you are making redundant one-to-one career support, paid for by you. We provide that support across Yorkshire, and we do not stop providing it on a date set in the contract.
What your people get
Every person you refer works one to one with someone here. The support covers the whole job search rather than one part of it.
- Career coaching
Working out what they want next, which for many people is the hardest part and the part they skip.
- CV creation and optimisation
Written properly for the roles they are actually going for.
- Interview preparation
Including role play and direct feedback, not a list of tips.
- LinkedIn profile development
Because a large share of professional hiring in Yorkshire starts there.
- Job market navigation
Who is hiring locally, and how they hire.
- Self-employment and career change support
For the people who decide to do something different.
- Pre-retirement planning
For those treating this as the end of their working life rather than a step in it.
Support for you and your managers
Running a redundancy is difficult for the people delivering the news as well as the people receiving it. We work with leaders and HR teams through the process as well as with the employees who are leaving.
“Sam went to the ends of the earth to help me, tirelessly assisting with my job search”
Where to go for the legal and financial questions
We handle career support. We do not give employment-law or financial advice, and we will tell you plainly when a question belongs somewhere else.
For statutory redundancy pay, notice periods and consultation rules, use Acas and GOV.UK. For money questions after redundancy, use MoneyHelper.
Why employers commission outplacement
Five reasons come up repeatedly, and none of them are about the people leaving alone.
- Reputation
How you treat people on the way out is visible to your industry, your customers and everyone you will try to recruit next year.
- Morale among the people who stay
The team watches what happens to their colleagues. Supporting leavers properly is the clearest signal you can give them.
- Loyalty and retention
Trust is what keeps the key people you cannot afford to lose during a restructure.
- Value
Support without a time limit means the value is not capped by a window that expires while someone is still looking.
- A smoother transition
Less stress through the process, and productivity maintained while it happens.
How it works
Four steps from first conversation to the point where someone is into a new role.
A conversation about your situation
How many people, what kinds of roles, what your timescales are, and what you have already told your staff.
We agree what support looks like
Shaped around the people affected. A warehouse team and a group of senior managers need different things.
Your people start working with us one to one
They meet the person who will support them, in Doncaster, at your site, or remotely.
Support continues until they land
There is no point at which we write to them to say their entitlement has expired.
Common questions
What does outplacement cost?
We price each piece of work against what is actually involved, so we quote rather than publish a rate. What moves the number is the amount of people being supported, how senior they are, and how much of the support is delivered face to face.
One thing that does not move it is duration. Most providers price in three, six or twelve month blocks, and a longer block costs more. We do not put an end date on the support, so that variable is not part of our quote at all.
Tell us what is happening and we will give you a figure for your situation.
Do you support people who are not being made redundant?
Yes. Restructures move people as well as remove them, and we support employees through transitions that are not redundancies.
Can you work with us on site?
Yes. We deliver support at your premises, at our Doncaster office, or remotely, and most engagements use a combination.
How quickly can you start?
Call the office and we will tell you honestly. Redundancy timescales are rarely generous, and we would rather say we cannot meet a date than agree to it and let you down.
Arrange a consultation
Tell us roughly what is happening and when. We will tell you what support would help, and whether we are the right people to give it.
